Job Description

Mayo Clinic Event Center is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join the Event Staff Team. All Event Team members are responsible for ensuring clients, fans and event attendees have a great experience while visiting our facilities. Hiring multiple positions with flexible scheduling.

Position Summary The Event Center Security Guard / Guest Services Team Member is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, staff, vendors, and performers during events. This role combines security awareness with strong customer service, ensuring that patrons have a safe and positive experience while venue policies and safety procedures are upheld. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Screen patrons by checking bags and operating walk-through magnetometers to ensure compliance with venue safety policies. Provide a visible security presence by standing guard or patrolling assigned areas during events. Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies, disturbances, or guest concerns within the assigned area. De-escalate potentially volatile situations using effective communication and conflict resolution techniques. Assist with crowd management inside and outside the facility to ensure safe movement and orderly conduct. Provide guest assistance, including directions and general event information. Maintain accurate and detailed reports documenting incidents, activities, and observations during each shift. Monitor the venue for irregularities such as trespassing, property damage, leaks, or unsecured access points and report concerns to supervisors. Inform patrons of venue policies and procedures when violations occur and escalate issues when necessary. Remain calm, professional, and assertive when interacting with the public. Verify credentials to control access to restricted areas and backstage locations. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding company operations, staff, and guest information. Work collaboratively with venue staff, management, and external agencies such as local police, emergency medical services and fire departments. Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance in accordance with venue uniform standards. Monitor barricades during concert performances for signs of crowd surges, crowd crush, or audience members in distress. Observe and address prohibited behavior such as crowd surfing, moshing in restricted areas, or bringing unauthorized items near the barricade. Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas such as the photo pit or stage. Identify guests experiencing medical distress and assist in moving them to a safe location for immediate medical attention. Work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by event operations. Follow all venue safety procedures and cooperate with venue management, medical personnel, and law enforcement when necessary to ensure the safety of guests and staff. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management. Must be at least 18 years of age Must successfully complete a background check Must comply with organizational and departmental policies. Must comply with data practices policies and standards relative to not public data. Any access to not public data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that are necessary to fulfill the employment responsibility. While data are being accessed, incumbent should take reasonable measures to ensure the not public data are not accessed by individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the data is reasonably finished the not public data must be properly stored according to city policy and the Minnesota Statutes.
