Job Description

General Statement:
This Position carries out planning/managing special events and ensures the smooth/efficient operation of catered functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans events with client for all assigned events Plans and ensures the smooth operation of in-house events Prepare BEO for all assigned events. Ensure that the client signs off on the final BEO. Prepares final event invoice and collects final payment, as per the terms of the contract and company SOP. Before each event organizes workstations and ensures that staff is aware of their duties and responsibilities. Verifies that staff presents the best possible personal appearance. Verifies that all event spaces and dining areas are properly set to client specifications and company standards; clean linen, silverware, glassware, food/beverage stations, décor, etc.. Consults chef regarding menus, and timing. Meet and greet event hosts/hostess and attend to their needs. During events remain in the dining area; sees to the seating of guests, assists wait staff with service oversees all meal service, and verifies satisfaction of guests. Assists in training staff in accordance with established regulations and procedures. Ensures cleanliness of facility, proper storage and cleanliness of equipment & decor prior to closing. Ensures all event spaces are completely reset for the next event prior to closing. Advises management of special requests, complaints, compliments, and carries out the action necessitated by such events. May be called upon to perform other tasks of a similar nature not specifically mentioned above.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must have excellent customer service and communication skills Previous customer service experience is a plus Fun and engaging personality Must be detail oriented, a team player and able to interact within the department as well as the public. Ability to handle customer sensitive issues Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision Must be available for weekend and evening hours Ability to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of two years of working experience as a Banquet Captain or similar position Managerial experience in handling catered events. Ability to manage, direct, and coordinate staff/service team. Degree in hotel/restaurant management is a plus, but not required Teamwork and visitor satisfaction skills are essential

Physical Demands:
Physical demands are minimal - minor lifting involved during special events.
Work Environment:
Work environment is primarily indoors 75% of the time. Instances where outdoor duties are required during special events - represented 25% of the time.
