SANTA BARBARA SOUTH COAST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Job Title:
Events Manager Reports to: Chief Operating Officer Type of position: Full-Time/Exempt As the Events Manager, you will be the architect of the Chamber's event strategy, owning the planning, production, financial performance, and continuous improvement of a 30+ event portfolio including signature events, monthly programs and community festivals. This is a highly visible role that partners directly with the executive team, Board of Directors, elected officials, and regional business leaders. The Events Manager is responsible for elevating the Chamber's profile across the South Coast, while ensuring flawless execution of every guest experience.
What You'll Do:
Own the Chamber's annual event strategy, aligning signature events with organizational goals, member needs, and the 2026-2030 Strategic Plan. Develop the annual event calendar and maintain the master production schedule across all signature, community, and member events. Identify opportunities for new events, sunset underperforming ones, and continuously reimagine existing events to grow attendance, revenue, and impact. Own the annual events budget, including support for sponsor development, expense management, and event-level P&L performance. Produce 30+ events annually, including signature business events, monthly networking breakfasts, and community-facing events such as the Goleta Lemon Festival and Meet Me in Old Town Goleta. Liaise with speakers, honorees, elected officials, and VIP guests, providing clear guidelines and white-glove support. Supervise event-day staff, contractors, interns, and volunteer teams; recruit, train, and schedule volunteers across all events. Collaborate across Membership, Communications, Visitor Services, and Economic Development to ensure events serve every division's goals. Represent the Chamber at community, member, and civic gatherings; serve as a Chamber ambassador in the community. What You'll Need to
Succeed:
Knowledge and critical thinking skills normally associated with a Bachelor's Degree. 5+ years of event management experience in a business or nonprofit setting Proven experience owning event budgets and P&Ls Track record of managing multiple concurrent events with varying scales Adaptable communication skills and strong negotiation and vendor management abilities Ability to work evenings and weekends as required for events Familiarity with the Santa Barbara South Coast business community preferred but not required

Compensation:
Salary range between $78,000 - $92,000 per year Compensation will be determined by a number of factors including educational background and experience.
