Student Assistant (Setzer Student Center, Event Staff) Fall 2026
Job Description
The Setzer Student Center is hiring Student Assistants, Event Staff to support campus programs, meetings, and special events. This role provides opportunities to gain hands-on experience in event operations, customer service, and teamwork while assisting with the smooth execution of student and university events. What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities Assist with setup and breakdown of events, including moving tables, chairs, staging, and audio-visual equipment Provide on-site support during events to ensure smooth operations Greet and assist guests, providing directions and information as needed Monitor events to ensure safety and adherence to policies Communicate with supervisors and event organizers to resolve issues promptly Maintain the cleanliness and organization of event spaces before, during, and after events Perform other event-related duties as assigned by staff Must be a currently enrolled Lamar University student in good standing Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and behavior Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible schedules Comfortable with light physical labor (moving tables, chairs, equipment) Strong teamwork and communication skills Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced situations Attention to detail and willingness to follow directions Excellent customer service orientation Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in event setup, customer service, or hospitality Knowledge of campus facilities and student services
