Job Description
DEFINITION
Responsible for the development, conduct and execution of The Hub on Halsell; performs specialized duties related to programming, marketing, public relations and promotion; and performs related work as required.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives administrative direction from the Director of Parks & Recreation Exercises some staff supervision to seasonal staff and volunteers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Event Operations and Logistics Modern office procedures, methods and computer software and hardware. Business letter and report writing. Customer relations techniques. Methods of research, program analysis and report preparation. Basic principles and procedures of record keeping and filing. English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Computer applications as they relate to areas assigned. Video and Audio Operations preferred.Skills:
Inclined to accuracy, efficiency and courtesy toward the public and other city employees. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must have strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal skills and computer skills. Present good interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to:
Perform responsible and difficult administrative work involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative. Provide administrative assistance in support of assigned City programs. Handle public inquiries with tact and accuracy. Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive data. Independently prepare correspondence and memoranda. Prepare clear and concise reports with accuracy and speed. Write clear, concise, objective and interesting text and materials for objectivity. Adhere to multiple deadlines and handle multiple projects. Maintain accurate and well-organized records and files. Make accurate mathematical calculations. Operate a personal computer and use applicable software. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions and use independent judgment and initiative. Use good judgment and make sound decisions in accordance with established procedures and policies. Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:- Walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time
- Operating assigned equipment. Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
- Making observations
- Communicating with others
- Reading and writing Operating assigned equipment.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
- Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Experience:
Minimum of two years of Event planning duties, parks and recreation, economic development, tourism, non-profit association management, municipal government operations, or similar; an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Education and Training:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and 2 years of experience in event planning, parks and recreation, tourism, municipal government operations or related field or Bachelor s Degree and 1 year of experience in related field. License or Certification Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate Texas Driver's License; First Aid certification; and Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR certification.WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:
Office environment; exposure to computer screens. Full exposure to the elements may occur when work is performed on-site covering community events, activities and other occurrences. Office work requires sitting for periods of time and the use of a computer keyboard and screen.Physical Conditions:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time. When performing on-site work, the incumbent may climb stairs, kneel and crouch, stand, walk on slippery/uneven surfaces or slopes and be exposed to vehicular traffic, smoke and sirens. The incumbent grasps and operates handheld cameras, drives a vehicle on City business, twists and reaches and must be able to meet the physical requirements and have mobility, balance, coordination, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.BENEFITS
