An Event Planner coordinates promotional sales events, professional meetings and family events. Works with clients, develops event plans and budgets, finds appropriate sites, contracts for services and supplies, coordinates with on-site staff, oversees finances and assists during an event.
The Building Assistant helps maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming Community Center while providing general on-site support to the Community Center Manager, Welcome Desk Attendants, volunteers, members, and program participants. This is a hands-on and flexible position. Responsibilities may include cleaning, straightening and organizing spaces, restocking supplies, setting up and taking down tables and chairs, assisting with programs and events, supporting the gymnasium and fitness center, managing inventory, and completing other tasks necessary to keep the facility operating smoothly. During busy periods or when the Welcome Desk Attendant needs assistance, the Building Assistant may also provide basic Welcome Desk or customer service support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facility & Cleaning Support Perform routine cleaning and upkeep throughout the Community Center, including common areas, meeting rooms, restrooms, gymnasium, and fitness center. Empty trash and recycling and restock facility and cleaning supplies. Straighten and organize furniture, equipment, and shared spaces. Complete assigned closing cleaning and building reset duties. Report maintenance, safety, or facility concerns to the Manager. Programs, Events & Facility Setup Set up and take down tables, chairs, and other equipment for meetings, programs, rentals, and events. Assist with on-site support during programs and community events. Help prepare spaces and ensure they are clean and ready for scheduled activities. Assist with inventory management and organization of supplies and equipment. Member & Welcome Desk Support Provide backup support to the Welcome Desk Attendant when needed. Greet and assist members and visitors and answer basic facility questions. Help maintain a welcoming environment throughout the building. Notify the Manager of safety concerns or incidents requiring management assistance. Other Duties Assist with outdoor or seasonal facility duties as assigned. Follow established safety, cleaning, opening, and closing procedures. Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers. Perform other duties as assigned by the Community Center Manager.

EXPERIENCE
No specific prior work experience is required. Previous experience in cleaning, maintenance, recreation, customer service, event support, or volunteer work is helpful but not required. AGE High school students may be considered for this position, subject to applicable employment requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily indoors in a community center environment with occassional outdoor work as needed. Regular interaction with the public, including children, teens, adults, and older adults. May occasionally encounter moderate noise levels. Schedule will primarly include weekday afternoon/evening hours and Saturday mornings, with additional shifts as needed. Must be comfortable working independently during portions of a shift while knowing when to seek assistance from the Manager.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull as needed. Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to move and arrange tables, chairs, and other equipment. Ability to perform routine cleaning and housekeeping tasks.
