PLEASE NOTE
This position is specifically intended to fill our Friday, Saturday, and Sunday staffing needs. Applicants must have regular availability on all three days. Our current coverage needs generally fall within:
Friday:
Approximately 7:00 AM-3:00
PM Saturday:
Approximately 8:00 AM-3:00
PM Sunday:
Approximately 10:00 AM-7:00 PM These are not guaranteed or fixed weekly hours. Exact shift times and total hours will vary based on meal schedules, special events, school breaks, and the needs of the account. Additional shifts may be available based on your availability and our staffing needs. This position requires the successful completion of a background check.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Bonafide Bites Catering is hiring a dependable, hardworking team member to support food service operations inside one of our Bloomington sorority house kitchens. This is a hands-on position that includes food preparation, meal service, dishwashing, cleaning, and general kitchen support. Depending on your experience and the needs of the account, you may also assist with inventory, receiving deliveries, special events, or other daily operations. You will be working in a client's facility, so professionalism, reliability, and respect for the house and its members are essential. We are looking for someone who notices what needs to be done, takes initiative, and is willing to help wherever needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Responsibilities may include: Preparing ingredients and assisting with cooking and food production Following recipes, production instructions, and established meal schedules Setting up buffets, serving lines, beverage stations, salad bars, and dining areas Serving meals and replenishing food, beverages, and supplies during service Preparing and labeling late plates and meals for members with dietary restrictions Washing dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment Cleaning and sanitizing food preparation, service, dining, and storage areas Sweeping, mopping, removing trash and recycling, and completing routine cleaning Receiving, organizing, rotating, and properly storing food and supplies Monitoring food quality, temperature, quantity, and presentation Following food safety, allergen, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures Assisting with special meals, chapter functions, recruitment activities, and other house events Communicating professionally with house members, house staff, coworkers, and Bonafide Bites management Helping with other kitchen and food-service responsibilities as assigned
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The right candidate will: Have regular availability on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays Be dependable, punctual, and prepared for scheduled shifts Be comfortable working independently and as part of a team Take initiative and assist with tasks without always needing to be asked Follow recipes, instructions, food safety procedures, and supervisory direction Communicate respectfully and professionally Maintain appropriate boundaries and respect client privacy and property Be willing to perform all parts of the job, including food preparation, service, dishwashing, and cleaning Be able to successfully complete a background check Previous commercial kitchen, restaurant, catering, institutional food service, or culinary experience is preferred, but it may not be required for the right candidate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods Frequently bend, reach, twist, squat, push, and pull Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds Safely move food, cookware, equipment, supplies, and other materials Perform repetitive food preparation, cleaning, lifting, and dishwashing tasks Work safely around hot equipment, steam, grease, sharp utensils, cleaning chemicals, and wet or slippery floors
SCHEDULE
This is a part-time position based primarily inside a Bloomington sorority house. Work generally follows the university's academic calendar. Schedules vary based on meal service, house occupancy, school breaks, special events, and other operational needs. Team members may occasionally be asked to assist at another Bonafide Bites location or catering event.
