Job Summary Join the Down South Funflatables team as a part-time Inflatable Setup & Pickup Crew Member! We are looking for dependable, hardworking individuals to help deliver, set up, break down, and pick up commercial inflatables throughout Wilmington, NC and surrounding areas. This is a physically demanding outdoor position involving large, heavy commercial vinyl inflatables. Crew members work together to safely load and unload equipment, complete customer setups, break down rentals, and return equipment to storage. Starting pay is $16+/hour, depending on experience. Duties Load and unload commercial inflatables and rental equipment from trucks and trailers Assist with delivery and pickup routes throughout Wilmington and surrounding areas Set up and break down bounce houses, water slides, obstacle courses, inflatable combos, and other rental equipment Roll, push, pull, lift, and maneuver heavy commercial vinyl inflatables as a team Position inflatables properly at customer locations Set up and organize blowers, extension cords, water hoses, tarps, stakes, sandbags, and other required equipment Properly secure inflatables according to company procedures Assist with wet and muddy pickups when necessary Inspect equipment during setup and pickup and immediately report damage, missing equipment, or safety concerns Make sure all equipment is accounted for before leaving a customer's property Help properly load and secure equipment in the trailer for transportation Keep trailers, equipment, and storage areas organized Follow assigned routes and instructions from the Crew Lead Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers and other crew members Follow company safety and equipment-handling procedures at all times Work efficiently as a team to complete scheduled deliveries and pickups Physical Requirements Commercial inflatables are made from heavy-duty vinyl, and rolled units can weigh several hundred pounds. This position requires significant physical activity. Able to frequently lift and carry up to approximately 75 lbs independently Able to work as part of a team to push, pull, roll, maneuver, load, and unload commercial inflatables weighing approximately 100-400+ lbs Heavy inflatables are handled using appropriate team-lifting and equipment-handling procedures; employees are not expected to individually lift a several-hundred-pound inflatable Able to repeatedly bend, kneel, crouch, push, pull, lift, carry, and roll equipment Comfortable performing strenuous physical work for extended periods Comfortable working outdoors in heat, humidity, sun, and changing weather conditions Comfortable working with equipment that may be wet, muddy, or dirty during pickups Comfortable working around trucks, trailers, blowers, extension cords, stakes, and other event-rental equipment Qualifications Dependable and punctual Comfortable performing strenuous outdoor physical work Able to follow directions and company safety procedures Strong teamwork and communication skills Able to work efficiently in a crew environment Professional and respectful when interacting with customers and their property Responsible when handling company equipment Reliable transportation to the designated meeting or work location Willing to complete the company's applicable pre-employment background-screening process Previous experience in event rentals, moving, delivery, landscaping, warehouse work, construction, athletics, or other physically demanding work is helpful but not required Schedule & Availability This is a part-time/seasonal position. Hours and routes vary depending on rental volume, customer locations, weather, and business needs. Friday and Sunday availability is especially important because these are our primary delivery and pickup days. Additional weekday and weekend work may also be available depending on the rental schedule. Reliability Reliability is extremely important at Down South Funflatables. Delivery and pickup routes are staffed based on employees who have committed to work. Once a shift is accepted, the rest of the crew is depending on you to be there. Employees are expected to arrive on time, ready to work, and communicate promptly if a genuine emergency affects their ability to report for an accepted shift. Background Screening Down South Funflatables regularly provides services for children's birthday parties, schools, family events, HOA/community events, and other locations where children and families may be present. Employment is contingent upon completion of the company's applicable pre-employment background-screening process. Compensation Starting at $16+/hour, depending on experience. Higher starting pay may be considered for applicants with relevant event-rental, delivery, moving, landscaping, construction, warehouse, or other physically demanding work experience. Dependable employees who demonstrate strong attendance, safe work practices, communication, teamwork, and leadership may have opportunities to advance to a Crew Lead position.
