Position Summary The Retail Clerk is responsible for creating a welcoming and positive dining experience for students, employees, and campus visitors by providing exceptional customer service, preparing and serving quality food and beverages, maintaining clean and inviting retail spaces, and following the highest standards of food safety. This position supports the daily operations of Bellevue College's retail dining locations, including coffee service, grab-and-go offerings, and hot food service, while contributing to an efficient, customer-focused team environment.

M-F 7am-3:30pm;
Summer Hours:
M-TH 6:30am-5pm. Schedule maybe subject to change. This is 10 months cyclical position which means the employee may not be able to work between academic quarters, collectively time will equal 2 months of cyclic leave.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule Position Salary Range:
$3,355/month
The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. This is a 10-month cyclical position and actual annual wage will be prorated during cyclical periods. We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. Competitive salary is within the Range stated above, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. About the Department Bellevue College (BC) Food Services serves the college main campus by offering a full-service cafeteria and coffee shops that serve hot food, light snacks, pastries, espresso, tea and beverages. Essential Functions Performs retail sales in coffee shops and cafeteria Assists customers in locating, selecting and purchasing various retail items at coffee shop or cafeteria. Prepares and serves light lunches, specialty beverages such as smoothies and coffee drinks. Serves as a cashier using point of sale to complete customer credit card and cash sales transactions. Checks cash register receipts and prepares daily financial reports. Arranges supplies and merchandise on shelves and in displays. Takes physical inventories and keeps inventory records. Prepares and submits merchandise ordering forms for Food Services Manager. Maintains clean customer dining area including tables, floors, windows. Arranges condiments and keeps store and food counter clean and orderly. May open and close register on a daily basis Perform other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent education/experience. At least six (6) months of beverage, food counter, or retail sales experience. Be proficient on the Point of Sales system and adhere to proper cash handling procedures and standards with a high level of accuracy. Must have King County food handler's permit within 14 days of hire.
Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Food values and nutrition.
- Personal hygiene, food handling, sanitation, and safety precautions.
- Care and use of cafe utensils and equipment.
- Record keeping (e.g., inventory).
- Report preparation (e.
g., supply levels and usage). Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds Demonstrated ability to work on several projects simultaneously. Demonstrated effective communication skills and ability to follow written and oral instruction. Demonstrated effective customer service skills with employees, students, and visitors. Experience working with diverse colleagues and students in a collaborative and inclusive environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience working as a barista.
