KAFIROOT
is a new health-forward café opening in Columbia City, Seattle. We make smoothies, bowls, house chai, and specialty teas from real ingredients. You'll work in a brand-new space with all new equipment. We're a small founding team, and you'll work with the owners, learning every station, sharing ideas, and helping shape how
KAFIROOT
runs from day one. What you'll do You'll have a primary station and cross-train on all of them: Smoothie & bowl line: build smoothies and bowls to recipe, quickly and consistently, including add-ons and allergy requests. Chai & tea bar: pull tea on the teapresso (like espresso, for tea), steam milk, brew specialty teas Front counter: greet guests, take orders and payments on Square, answer menu questions, and keep the counter stocked.
Prep:
wash, cut, and portion produce; prepare bases and toppings; label and rotate stock.
Inventory:
receive and check deliveries, count stock, track waste, and flag low items before they run out. Opening & closing: follow our checklists to set up and break down stations, count the register, and hand off cleanly to the next shift.
Food safety:
follow health department standards: temperature logs, sanitizing, allergen handling, and proper labeling. Clean & care: dishes, daily equipment cleaning, and keeping the café guest-ready and inspection-ready. Who we're looking for
Dependable:
you show up on time, every shift.
Consistent:
you follow our recipes and standard procedures (SOPs) exactly, so every drink and bowl is the same.
Fast and energetic:
you move with urgency and stay calm and organized during a rush. Hospitality-minded and curious about health and wellness: we'll teach you our ingredients and how to talk about them. Café, barista, kitchen, juice bar, or restaurant experience is a plus. You're available for early mornings and weekends. You have a Washington Food Worker Card , or can get one within 14 days of hire. You can stand for full shifts and lift up to 40 lb. Pay & schedule $22.00/hour plus pooled tips Paid training at $22/hour Paid sick time
Hours:
16-36 hrs/week available About 5.5-hour shifts; open 6 days a week 90-day introductory period with station-by-station training Start date: We expect to open in late 2026. The exact date will be set once final construction wraps up. Paid training begins about two weeks before opening, and we'll keep every candidate updated along the way.
