English Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Sanitation Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic production environment by cleaning and sanitizing equipment, tools, and work areas in accordance with company and regulatory standards. This role plays a critical part in ensuring food safety and operational readiness for the production department. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in wet, cold, and physically demanding conditions, be able to follow detailed sanitation procedures, and be flexible in performing various tasks across departments, including equipment set up and cross-training in related areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain all equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and ready-to-use condition for the production department Perform cleaning of miscellaneous equipment and designated areas as required by the Sanitation crew Participate in all departmental operations as needed Cross-train in Smoker, Cook Tank, and Massage Operator duties Set up and dismantle production equipment to support specific cleaning processes Use appropriate chemicals and water to thoroughly remove food residue from equipment and surfaces Clean and sanitize tanks, hoppers, conveyors, and related machinery Wear company-provided protective equipment and strictly follow all safety procedures Carry out maintenance tasks or other duties as assigned Work effectively in high-temperature water environments Regularly bend, stoop, push, pull, and walk as part of job duties Be flexible and willing to perform various departmental responsibilities as needed Complete other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work in wet environments and perform all essential duties Must be able to read, understand, and communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English Possess basic math skills, including the ability to calculate percentages Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs. or more Comfortable working in cold, wet, and noisy conditions Available to work flexible hours, including potential overtime and Saturdays as needed Company Overview Kayem Foods is a family owned and operated craft meat business that has been making New England's favorite franks, sausages, and prepared meats in Chelsea, Mass. since its founding by Kaz Monkiewicz back in 1909. (Please NO staffing agencies or external recruiter calls) Pay Range The base pay range for this role is $19.75 USD/Hourly The listed salary range represents Kayem Foods' good faith estimate for this position and represents the minimum and maximum for new hire pay ranges. Ranges are reviewed on a regular basis. An employee's rate of pay within the range is determined by their qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated performance over time. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued wage growth. This position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits package and is eligible for an annual wage review. Kayem Foods complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
