ABOUT THE EXPOSURE PROJECT
The Exposure Project connects the aspirations of under-resourced middle and high school youth in Charlotte to real world careers through curated, hands-on experiences. Exposed Plus is our flagship program: a competitive, application based experience where participants run a real food truck business, develop professional skills on a dedicated team, and leave with a completed Life Plan. Every participant works alongside industry experts.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Culinary Manager leads the culinary team inside Exposed Plus, working directly with middle and high school participants. You will teach real food production skills, oversee food safety, run taste testing events, and prepare participants to operate a food truck business, including the behind the scenes work like POS system setup and supply ordering. This is hands-on instruction and mentorship, not a classroom lecture!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead weekly culinary team sessions, teaching food production, recipe development, and menu management Oversee food safety certification (ServSafe) for culinary team participants Plan and run taste testing events with the team Guide inventory management and supply ordering, including hands-on shopping trips with participants Set up and train participants on the POS system Support monthly profit and loss reporting for the culinary team Provide hands-on oversight of food production at food truck events and activations Partner with the culinary institution faculty lead on curriculum and food safety standards Help participants build the Career Direction and Support Network sections of their Life Plan through real culinary work
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional culinary experience, ideally including food truck, catering, or restaurant operations ServSafe certified, or able to become certified and help proctor for participants Comfortable handling operational logistics such as POS systems and supply ordering Comfortable working with middle and high school youth in a mentorship capacity Reliable, organized, and communicative with program staff
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
