This is a great side job for college music students, music educators, and working musicians looking for occasional, flexible work. We believe this role will be best suited to a candidate who has studied music, and no teaching experience is required. This position may also lead to other opportunities within the company. The Position As a Music Academy Event Representative, you'll be one of the faces of Shining Star in the community. You'll host our booth at local events, engage with families, lead simple activities for children, and introduce parents to our music lesson programs. We'll provide training, talking points, registration information, and event-specific instructions so you're prepared to confidently represent Shining Star. Schedule This is a part-time, event-based position with no guaranteed minimum number of hours or events. Events are offered as they become available Events are typically held on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays Individual shifts generally range from 2-7 hours You may accept events based on your availability Availability for multiple events already on the calendar this semester is a plus Many events are outdoors (tent supplied) This position is ideal for someone looking for occasional work that can fit around school, teaching, performing, or another job. Compensation $20/hour for events, $15/hour for training and non-event tasks. You may also be offered a registration bonus for registering new clients, as well as sales incentives and opportunities to create relationships that result in sales with a commission. What You'll Do Responsibilities vary depending on the event and may include: Pick up event materials from our local storage unit as needed Transport, load, and unload event materials Set up our tent, tables, signage, activities, giveaways, and promotional materials Welcome families and start conversations with event attendees Engage children with simple music-related activities Talk with parents about music lessons and Shining Star's programs Encourage families to participate in giveaways and promotions Answer basic questions using provided information and talking points Help interested parents complete our registration form Break down and pack event materials Return materials to our storage unit Send photos or other requested event information afterward Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is: 18 years of age or older Based in Gainesville, FL Friendly, enthusiastic, and approachable Comfortable starting conversations with new people Confident interacting with both children and adults Dependable, professional, and able to work independently at a booth Comfortable talking about music and the benefits of music education Available for occasional evening and weekend events College music students, music educators, and working musicians are especially encouraged to apply. Physical & Transportation Requirements Because this position involves transporting and setting up event equipment, applicants must: Have reliable personal transportation Be able to transport event materials when required Be able to safely lift, carry, load, unload, set up, and break down event equipment, including folding tables and a pop-up tent Be comfortable working outdoors for some events Event materials will need to be picked up from and returned to our local storage unit. Mileage and other transportation expenses are not reimbursed, but hours of work are paid.
