The Role The person in this performance role plays Professor Ellsworth

• our resident interdimensional scientific explorer
• and welcomes guests into Edge of Elsewhere.

As Ellsworth, you set the tone the moment a group enters the Professor's Study, which serves as a briefing room. This is the first room new guests enter after leaving the lobby. This introductory experience should establish a mysterious, wonder-inducing mood, drawing people into the world and guiding them through how the space works. This is a performance role first. You are comfortable staying in character, reading a room, and improvising warmth and kindness with guests of every kind. You also occasionally pitch in on the practical side of running the venue. • what matters most is your presence, your warmth, and your curiosity to learn. Responsibilities As a performer & introductory guide, you'll spend your shifts in character as Ellsworth, welcoming guests. Day to day, you will: Perform as Ellsworth throughout each shift
• welcoming groups, setting the mood, and drawing guests into the world of Edge of Elsewhere. Introduce the rules of the venue in character, so guidance feels like part of the experience. Run the room with time in mind
• stay aware of the schedule and keep guests entering at a steady pace to prevent lobby backups.

Read each group and improvise to fit the moment, keeping everyone engaged and comfortable. Support guests of all kinds with patience and warmth, and an eye for accessibility and comfort. Stay alert to guest and staff safety, and respond calmly if an issue arises, stepping out of character when a situation calls for it. Operate interactive elements and props within Ellsworth's study. Pitch in wherever the team needs a hand during a shift. About Ellsworth Ellsworth is the heart of the guest's first impression of Edge of Elsewhere. They are curious, a little eccentric, and genuinely delighted to have guests visiting their study. We'll help you build the character: voice, mannerisms, and the beats of the welcome. You'll have room to make the role your own, while staying true to the world we've built.

Qualifications:

Must-Have Skills & Attributes Comfort performing and staying in character in front of guests, and a willingness to improvise. A welcoming, friendly presence and enjoyment of working with people. Reliability. You show up on time and ready. You stay calm and helpful in a busy, high-energy environment. You are comfortable being on your feet and moving throughout the venue for full 4 to 8 hour shifts. Willingness to help with light cleaning and resets as part of every shift. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work in Somerville, MA. Must be at least 18 years old. Enthusiasm for immersive or location-based entertainment. Other Desirable, But Not Necessary, Skills & Experience Performance experience

• theater, improv, character work, or interactive/immersive performance.

Experience with audience interaction or working with all ages. Experience in customer service, hospitality, tour guiding, or live events. A love of puzzles, games, immersive experiences, or storytelling. We do not expect every candidate to have experience in all of the above. We are looking for someone with the warmth, care, and curiosity to learn quickly in the areas that are new.

Audition Process For this role, there may be one or two auditions. The first would likely be virtual, where we'd ask you to read from a short script so we can get a feel for your voice and presence. The second would take place at our Somerville venue, where we will have you improvise a bit with some of our team members playing the role of "guest." We'll be looking to see how you connect with people and think on your feet. No need to prep anything
