Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced event environment. Desired Qualifications Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, event management, athletics, or related fields. Experience working with VIP guests, donors, or special event attendees. Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Knowledge of Oakland University Athletics and NCAA Division I athletics. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Position Purpose The Host/Hostess serves as the first point of contact for donors, sponsors, alumni, university leadership, and special guests attending Oakland University Athletics events. This position is responsible for creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere within VIP and donor hospitality areas while providing exceptional customer service and ensuring guests have an outstanding game-day experience. Job Duties Guest Services & Hospitality Welcome and greet donors, sponsors, alumni, and VIP guests in a friendly and professional manner. Verify guest credentials, tickets, and access permissions for VIP and donor areas. Assist guests with seating, directions, and general event information. Provide exceptional customer service and address guest concerns promptly and professionally. Foster a positive and welcoming environment that enhances the donor and fan experience. Event Operations Assist with the setup and breakdown of VIP and donor hospitality spaces before and after events. Ensure hospitality areas remain clean, organized, and presentable throughout events. Monitor guest traffic and assist in maintaining safe and orderly operations. Support food and beverage service areas as directed. Communicate operational issues or guest concerns to supervisors in a timely manner. Donor Relations Serve as a positive representative of Oakland University Athletics. Help cultivate a premium experience for donors and supporters. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when interacting with donors and university leadership. Assist with donor recognition initiatives and special hospitality events as assigned. Administrative Support Assist with guest check-in lists and attendance tracking. Support special events, receptions, and donor functions as needed. Complete other duties as assigned by Athletics Administration staff.
