Job Description
Hostess - Rumson Country Club Rumson, New Jersey Rumson Country Club, a private club located on the beautiful Jersey Shore, is hiring Hostesses to join our exceptional Food & Beverage team. Our renowned dining program is an integral part of the Rumson Country Club experience, and we are seeking friendly, professional, and service-oriented individuals to provide a warm welcome and outstanding hospitality to our members and their guests. Position Overview The Hostess is responsible for warmly welcoming members and guests, managing the seating of the dining room, coordinating reservations, and assisting with the overall flow and service of the restaurant. The Hostess serves as one of the first points of contact for members and guests and plays an important role in creating a positive dining experience. Duties and Responsibilities Warmly greet members and guests upon arrival and provide a friendly, professional welcome. Manage reservations, seating arrangements, and the dining room flow to ensure an efficient and enjoyable experience. Escort members and guests to their tables and provide menus as appropriate. Communicate wait times and seating availability to members and guests. Answer questions regarding the restaurant, menu, daily specials, and dining procedures. Coordinate with servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth restaurant operations. Monitor the dining room and assist with maintaining clean, organized, and properly prepared tables. Assist with resetting tables, restocking menus and supplies, and maintaining the overall appearance of the host station and dining area. Assist members and guests with special requests and communicate any needs to the appropriate staff. Maintain accurate reservation and seating information. Answer and direct telephone calls and assist with reservation inquiries when needed. Provide attentive and courteous service while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor. Assist with general restaurant tasks as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Skills and Abilities Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Friendly, welcoming, and professional demeanor. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy dining environment. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work cooperatively with servers, management, and other Food & Beverage staff. Proficiency with reservation or POS systems preferred. Education and Experience Previous restaurant, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred. Previous hostess or front-of-house experience preferred. Must be at least 16 years of age. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Ability to move throughout the dining room and restaurant for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 15 lbs. Must be available to work some Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
