Non-Exempt Direct Supervisor Restaurant Supervisor / Restaurant Manager Job Overview The Host/Cashier is responsible for welcoming and seating guests in a professional, friendly, and efficient manner to ensure a positive first impression and smooth dining experience. This role manages reservations, coordinates guest flow, and maintains an organized seating process to support optimal restaurant operations. The Host / Hostess serves as the first point of contact for guests and plays a key role in delivering exceptional hospitality and service standards. This position operates in a fast-paced restaurant environment requiring constant movement, guest interaction, and coordination with front-of-house and kitchen teams. The role involves frequent standing and walking, exposure to noise, uneven surfaces, and occasional slippery or high-traffic areas. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, organization, and a consistently positive and professional demeanor. Job Responsibilities Guest Greeting & Seating Welcome and greet guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner Seat guests promptly while balancing table availability and section rotation Present menus and ensure they are clean and presentable Maintain an accurate waitlist and communicate wait times clearly Reservations & Guest Flow Management Handle reservations in person and by phone with professionalism Coordinate seating to ensure efficient table turnover and guest satisfaction Communicate with kitchen and service staff to manage guest flow effectively Monitor table status and section assignments throughout service Guest Communication & Service Support Answer phones and respond to guest inquiries using professional language Provide information about restaurant offerings, property amenities, and services Maintain knowledge of resort events, dining options, and promotions Assist with guest requests and ensure a welcoming environment Cleanliness & Organization Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and podium area Ensure menus are clean, stocked, and properly organized Keep coat check and surrounding entry areas neat and presentable Maintain a polished and professional appearance at all times Team Support & Flexibility Assist restaurant staff with guest-related needs as required Support other food and beverage departments when needed Contribute to overall smooth restaurant operations during peak service periods
Job Requirements Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of restaurant or hospitality experience required; experience in guest-facing or front-of-house roles preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Pleasant, positive, and professional demeanor Strong customer service and guest engagement skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of seating flow, table management, and guest rotation principles Ability to handle reservations and phone inquiries professionally Familiarity with restaurant and property services and amenities Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to maintain cleanliness and presentation standards Team-oriented with willingness to assist across departments
Certifications:
None required (food safety training preferred).

Physical requirements:
Constant to frequent standing and walking throughout shift Frequent bending, reaching, crouching, balancing, and gross motor movement Occasional sitting, pushing/pulling, and use of fine motor skills Frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
