Job Description
Job Overview A Host Home Coordinator advances sensible long-term solutions to the crisis of homelessness and defends the rights of the homeless. A Host Home Coordinator fills a critical role, helping young people experiencing homelessness to access housing and other essential services. This role is critical, and whoever fills it is an honored member of the YES team. A Host Home Coordinator recruits, screens, trains, and supports community volunteers who are willing to offer temporary housing (host homes) to young people (ages 13-18). They coordinate youth-host matches, perform safety checks, provide ongoing assistance, and work with advocates to promote stability for our young community members.
Essential Functions:
This position is responsible for learning and performing all aspects of the Host Home Coordinator role, including protocols, in accordance with the YES program standards. Actively recruit diverse host home families through marketing, social media, community outreach, community presentations, and informal events. Consistent communication with the Executive Director about plans and projects to engage community members and how you intend to grow the program. Retain documentation to show a 3-month and 6-month forecast for projects. Conduct home studies, background checks, and interviews along with the Executive Director to approve host homes. Conduct orientation and ongoing training for hosts regarding youth needs, trauma-informed care, LGBTQIA2+ understanding and sensitivity, boundaries, and safety. Check in regularly with Host family to help navigate challenges and provide support and encouragement. Gain a working knowledge of and implementation of all WACs and RCWs that provide YES legal guidance in serving youth/young adults enrolled for services. Working alongside Advocates and Host Homes to create and maintain stability. Clearly identifies services necessary to stabilize a youth's situation. Carry a caseload of host homes, completing assessment tools, providing essential needs, and performing more complex actions to prevent the youth from returning to homelessness. Complete comprehensive documentation for each individual Host Home. Develop links with community service providers and local resources (public and private sectors) to access resources and build partnerships for youth residing in a host home. Coordinate services with health providers, law enforcement, juvenile justice, schools, and community resources. Adhere to all confidentiality policies within and outside the agency per the RCWs and WACs. Build and maintain professional relationships with service providers and professionals. Participate in community meetings representing YES with/without participants. Continue job-related trainings for yourself and for the Host Home providers. Maintain a professional attitude & appearance. Prepare reports for the Executive Director and the Board Members on activities and outcomes, as requested. Participate in performance evaluations. Maintain knowledge of YES funding sources and work with the Executive Director to ensure correct purchasing and invoicing. Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of YES and the Host Home Program.
QUALIFICATIONS
1-3 years of experience in social services, youth development, case management, or a related field. A degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field (equivalent experience considered). Lived experience of homelessness is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written. Strong public speaking skills, networking, and outreach to our community members. Relationship-building skills, such as family mediation or similar training. Moderate computer skills are a must. Non-judgmental communication and support for LGBTQ+, intersectional, and native youth, young adults, and families. Sensitivity to the needs and feelings of all individuals who seek assistance from the YES Program.
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to pass a background check. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and participate in on-call hours. YES's on-call status is non-restrictive, meaning it's a "waiting to be engaged" status.
•More information will be provided during an official interview. Maintain confidentiality during both on- and off-duty hours. Be comfortable working in the office, from home, and traveling for Host Home visits and outreach. Travel will be essential while you are getting the program up and running. Valid Driver's License and the state of residency. Current auto insurance. Reliable and dependable transportation. Familiar with the application of Windows and Microsoft programs.

Pay:
$20.00 - $21.00 per hour Expected hours: 37.5 per week
