Job Description
Principle Job Activities•: Register guests and assign rooms, accommodating special request when available; Fosse experience is extremely valuable Assist in pre-registration and blocking room for reservations Thoroughly understands and adheres to proper credit, check-cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures Understands room status and room status tracking Knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates Uses suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and to promote other services of the hotel Coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department by notifying housekeeping of all check-outs, early check-ins, and special requests Possesses a working knowledge of the front desk/reservation departments. Takes same-day and future reservations when necessary. Either programs/deletes guests room key Knows how to use front office equipment Processes guests upon check out Place all received USPS mail and any other packages behind the front desk and complete the packages received log Post and file all charges to guest, permanent, and master folios/accounts Follow procedures for safe deposit boxes Use proper telephone etiquette Use proper message handling procedures Read, initial, and date all information in the log book and any new memos Attend monthly staff meetings as scheduled by management Coordinate guestroom maintenance work with the maintenance engineer Report any unusual occurrences or request to the manager Must be 21 years of age or older •These activities are the primary ones that a front desk staff should expect to complete during their shift. Front desk staff is also expected to help in other areas and may be responsible for additional activities as delegated by the property manager or members of the home office management team
