Job Description

Guest Services Coordinator The Gilded Lily Chicago, IL Job Details Part-time $17.50
  • $20.00 an hour 3 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Employee discount Professional development assistance Retirement plan Qualifications Teamwork Multitasking Customer service Phone etiquette Full Job Description Front Desk Coordinator The Gilded Lily | Chicago, IL $17.50
  • 20/hr + retail commission | 25-35 hrs/week The Role, In Short We're looking for the person who makes a guest feel like they mattered before they even sat down.
The Front Desk Coordinator is the first and last impression of The Gilded Lily, and honestly, that's a bigger job than most people give it credit for. You'll run the front of house: booking, checkout, guest communication, retail, and keeping the day moving without letting anything slip through the cracks. If you're the kind of person who finishes what you start without someone checking in on you, keep reading. This isn't a "sit and wait for the phone to ring" job. We need someone who runs the front desk like it's their business, not just their shift. About The Gilded Lily We're a luxury salon built on a laidback-luxury philosophy: high standards, zero stiffness. Guests come to us for exceptional hair and an experience that feels like it was built just for them, not a script. We've been recognized as a two-time Salon Today Top 200 salon, but the real proof is in the room every day: internally, we run the same way. We believe in clear expectations, real feedback, and giving people room to grow into more than the job they were hired for. Our core values guide everything we do: Positivity
  • we bring energy that lifts the room, not drains it Teamwork
  • strong individually, unstoppable as a team Education
  • we're always leveling up, never coasting Guest Experience
  • every interaction should feel intentional Trust & Honesty
  • we say the real thing, kindly and directly If you read that and thought "finally, a workplace that means it," you're the kind of person we want applying. What You'll Own This is where you'll spend most of your time and where we'll measure your success: Guest Experience
  • greet, check in, and check out every guest so it feels warm, not transactional. You're often the reason someone becomes a repeat guest. Booking & Scheduling
  • manage the calendar in Meevo with an eye for prebooking rate and filling gaps, not just taking whatever comes in. Communication
  • handle guest texting and gap-fill through Emitrr, keep the front desk Slack channel current, and make sure stylists have what they need before a guest sits down. Retail
  • this is a real part of the role, not an afterthought. You'll be expected to hit a retail-to-service ratio target and speak to product with confidence, not just ring it up. Follow-Through
  • tasks assigned in Asana get done, not remembered later. If something's stuck, you flag it instead of letting it sit. Team Support
  • you're working both with Mal and with our front desk manager depending on the day, and you switch between the two without missing a beat.
Who We're Looking For You're a strong fit if: You finish what you say you'll do, without three reminders You genuinely like people, and it shows without being fake You can hold two conversations at once (a guest at the desk, a phone ringing) and keep both calm You're comfortable talking product and asking for the sale, it doesn't feel gross to you You see something broken and fix it or flag it, instead of shrugging This isn't the role for you if: You'd rather work solo than as part of a team. Teamwork is one of our five core values for a reason, and it's not negotiable here. You need constant direction to stay on task Customer service feels like a performance to you instead of something real Experience We're Looking For Prior salon or spa front desk experience is ideal. We'll also strongly consider candidates with customer-facing experience in retail or hospitality who can show us they know how to move fast and stay warm under pressure. Physical Requirements This role is primarily desk-based: standing and seated work at the front desk and throughout the salon during your shift. Schedule Schedule 25-35 hours per week on a rotating schedule, your days will vary week to week rather than staying fixed. This role requires 1 Saturday per month (2 per month during the holiday season). Full schedule details shared during the interview process.
Compensation & Growth Pay:
$17.50
  • 20/hour, based on experience Quarterly bonus eligibility based on meeting benchmarks and revenue goals Growth path: this role has a clear track toward Sales Team Lead / Operations.
We build our team from within whenever we can, and we'll be transparent with you about what that path looks like and what it takes to get there. We don't believe in hiring someone into a dead-end job and hoping they stick around. If you're good at this, we want to talk about what's next for you, not just today. Commitment to Diversity The Gilded Lily is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, races, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, and abilities. A team that reflects a range of experiences and perspectives makes us better at serving our guests and each other, and we mean that in practice, not just on paper. Ready to Apply?
