JOB OVERVIEW
The front desk is responsible for creating a positive guest experience from arrival to departure. At a hotel like the Holiday Inn Express Wixom, typical front desk responsibilities include: Guest Service Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner. Check guests in and out efficiently. Answer questions about the hotel and local area. Handle guest requests and resolve complaints promptly. Provide excellent customer service at all times. Reservations Make, modify, and cancel reservations Assign rooms based on availability and guest preferences Verify payment methods Explain hotel policies, amenities, and breakfast hours Phone & Communication Answer incoming phone calls. Transfer calls and take messages. Respond to guest emails when necessary. Communicate important information to housekeeping, maintenance, and management. Cash Handling Process credit card and cash payments. Balance the cash drawer. Post charges and adjustments accurately. Prepare shift reports when required. Hotel Operations Monitor room availability. Coordinate with housekeeping on room status. Report maintenance issues. Issue room keys and re-key when needed. Maintain lobby cleanliness and organization. Problem Resolution Address guest concerns professionally. Handle room moves when necessary. Respond to emergencies following hotel procedures. Document incidents and communicate them to management. Administrative Duties File and organize paperwork. Complete shift checklists. Update guest profiles. Prepare reports for the next shift. Safety & Security Verify guest identification during check-in. Follow key control procedures. Protect guest privacy and confidential information. Monitor security cameras (if assigned). Follow emergency procedures. Teamwork Communicate effectively during shift changes. Assist other departments when needed. Support housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast staff, and sales when appropriate. Daily Tasks Restock front desk supplies. Keep the front desk and lobby clean. Print arrivals, departures, and housekeeping reports. Review VIPs, group arrivals, and special requests. Ensure the coffee station and lobby are presentable (if applicable).
