We provide services across four locations. At our two seasonal emergency shelters of last resort, we provide adults experiencing homelessness with a safe place to sleep during the harsh winter months. At the Micah Center and Wellspring, our two daytime resource centers, we equip adults experiencing homelessness - as well as community members at-risk - with the tools to achieve self-sufficiency. At St. John's Ministries, we believe each person is unique, with the same inherent worth as the day they were born. We meet each of our guests right where they are and walk alongside them on their journey. Our vision is that through a spirit of familiarity, rapport, and trust, each person will leave better than they came.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Overview:
The Support Staff provide a warm, welcoming environment for our shelter guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist security staff with guest check in, sign guests in and assign bunks and nightly chores Accurately check in, distribute and record guest's medication Oversee completion of guest chores Fill donation requests, do laundry and complete other tasks as needed Communicating guest issues to the Shift Lead Build rapport with shelter guests and engage in conversation with guests on a regular basis Qualifications Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and co-occurring mental health and/or substance use disorders A strong desire to serve others in the community A positive attitude A calm demeanor when dealing with challenges Reliable and punctual for scheduled shifts Ability to work well as a member of a team Ability multi-task and prioritize tasks Take initiative to address issues as they arise Comfortable working independently and managing time effectively Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Regularly required to sit, stand, climb stairs, walk for extended periods of time
Lifting :
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Computer Use :
Perform tasks involving typing and computer use

Supplies :
