Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for helping lead the sales, staff, operational and merchandising functions of three retail locations, Base Lodge Traders, located on the 2 nd story of the Base Lodge, Snow Ghost Outfitters, located in the upper village, and Summit House Gifts, located atop Chair 1.
Job Relationships :
  • Reports to: Director of Retail and Rental
  • Works Closely with: Merchandising Manager
Employees Supervised:
Leads and Sales Staff Job Specifications :
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent; college education preferred
  • 3+ years of Retail Supervisor experience required; ski industry preferred
  • Sales and merchandising experience required
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft applications preferred
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with little supervision
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, be able to prioritize tasks, and have a high level of attention to detail
  • Must possess the ability to function effectively during times of high stress and high business demands, while dealing courteously and effectively with both guests and team members
  • Subject to WSI s Alcohol and Controlled Substance Abuse Policy based on the nature of the position and related duties.
Specific Duties:
  • Be an advocate of excellent guest service: o Ensure that guests are taken care of in a friendly & efficient manner o Ability to problem solve difficult guest issues and interactions o Ensure a consistent level of guest service standards throughout the season
  • Assist in day-to-day operations: o Scheduling adequate staffing and adjusting levels to meet business needs o Ensure staff are correctly delivering product details and information to our guests o Ensure all employees clock in/out accurately & approving timecards o Lead staff on-boarding, training, coaching, and disciplinary actions as required o Keep stores stocked with necessary items to operate, including both retail and non-retail supplies o Follow proper cash handling procedures, POS operation and adherence to company policies o Adhere to proper Inventory Controls for transfers, receiving, & shipping o Keep stores, back rooms, and dressing rooms organized and clean o Assist with Merchandising projects o Working closely with Merchandising Manager & Director for any reorder/out of stock and helping influence future buying decisions • Complete Employee Evaluations and mid-season check ins • Complete departmental seasonal budgets twice per year (winter and summer seasons), ensure that the department operates within budget guidelines.
Provide variance reporting upon request or as financial results dictate.
  • Help attain sales at budgeted levels and communicate to Merchandise Manager/Director observed guest buying trends, as well as providing possible reasons why sales may meet, exceed, or not meet budgeted goals
  • Be current and knowledgeable about industry trends and practices
  • Ability to work within framework of Retail & WSI policies and procedures
Work Environment:
  • Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to be on one s feet for extended time periods up to 6-8 hours.
  • Includes light to moderate physical activity, including bending, stooping, lifting etc. on a routine basis.
  • Working holidays, nights, and weekends is an accepted part of the job.
  • Non-smoking environment.
