A traditional German-style Christmas Market is set up at the Seattle Center next to the Space Needle from November through December 2026, but the work starts now! The market will feature traditional European food and merchandise to spread Christmas Cheer in our community and beyond. The Seattle Christmas Market (SCM) will be entering its fourth year of operation after a breakout start in 2023. With an expected attendance of over 180,000 guests, our six week-long market experience is the first of its kind in Washington State. Supported by the Vancouver Christmas Market (VCM), an established brand that has welcomed over 2.5 million guests since 2010 in Downtown Vancouver, B.C. Full-Time Employment Opportunity - Guest Experience Manager Seattle Christmas Market is seeking a driven, enthusiastic candidate with event-related experience for Guest Experience Manager position. This role entails overseeing the SCM Guest Operations, as well as other related duties as assigned.
Schedule and Location:
September 15 - January 15 On-site presence during market hours, including evenings and weekends from November through December.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Box Office & Admissions Working directly with our ticketing provider and VCM Guest Experience Manager to manage the ticketing process from event build to on sale date. Review and manage ticket inventory on a daily basis to maximize attendance Set-up & programming of box office equipment for onsite sales; Ensure scanning equipment is functional and connected to wifi ahead of and during the duration of the day Ensure smooth overall operation and functionality of entrance area and POS functionality. Responsible for system upgrades, testing of new software, routine maintenance and troubleshooting (in cooperation with Showpass). Ensure optimal utilization of ShowPass system by preparing ticket reports and coordinating with all internal departments to manage all marketing, accounting and partnership procedures. Merchandise & Information Manage merchandise sales at SCM operated kiosk; Ensure merchandise supplies are adequately stocked at all times, including guest experience add on items Manage our lost and found program; input guest information and log lost and found items Train the team having a good knowledge of the market to assist guests Manage merchandise inventory process Administration & Training Assist with hiring day & onboarding of new staff; Make sure all staff have appropriate uniform & supplies to carry out duties; Update and deliver our training programs to our seasonal team (incl. Box office software & POS); Manage scheduling processes using our scheduling platform (WhenIWork). Conduct daily shift reports. Set-up and maintain POS system for onsite sales (Square) Remain in constant communication with SCM General Manager and VCM Guest Experience Coordinator, providing detailed updates in any operational issues Guest Experience Manage our Guest Experience programs including sensory inclusion, review generation, surprise and delight. Coach and guide the team in providing a positive guest experience in our guest interactions. Ensure all pre-purchased products are available for collection and that this experience is seamless. Monitor all customer requests and complaints and train staff to ensure optimal level of customer services Coaching & Mentoring Manage, investigate and resolve any team conflicts and disciplinary matters Create and maintain the culture of coaching and recognition Address any performance issues in timely manner Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned
Travel Requirement:
A valid passport is necessary for occasional travel to Vancouver, Canada for training and team collaboration purposes. Transportation and accommodation provided.
Qualifications Education and Work Experience:
A university or college degree or diploma in a related field of study with a minimum of 3 years' work experience in events, hospitality and/or box office.
Management Experience:
Team leadership and management skills including performance monitoring, goal setting, and mentorship.
Technology:
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Suite, POS and scheduling software
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal communication including the ability to provide constructive feedback to project stakeholders and communicate expectations effectively.
Planning and Time Management:
Superior project and time management skills with excellent organizational and planning capabilities. Ability to take projects from concept through to final production. Comfortable to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
Adaptability and Judgment:
Ability to quickly adapt to changing environments, problem-solving skills, and an innovative mindset including exercising good judgment and decision making.
Problem solving:
Ability to solve any operational and personnel issues in a timely manner.
Compensation Salary:
