ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for an inspired & experienced leader to join our team as the Housekeeping Manager. If you can communicate with team members in Spanish and English, have strong leadership and organizational skills, hotel housekeeping experience, and are comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment - then this role is for you! The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hotel's Housekeeping Department, ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, laundry operations, and other assigned areas are maintained to the hotel's standards for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and guest service. The Housekeeping Manager provides leadership, direction, training, and support to housekeeping team members, while ensuring efficient staffing, room readiness, inventory control, and compliance with company policies and applicable safety and sanitation requirements. The Housekeeping Manager works in close collaboration with other department managers to achieve these goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department, including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and laundry operations, as applicable. Work collaboratively and effectively with other department managers, team members, 3rd party vendors, and clients. Ensure guestrooms are cleaned, inspected, and released according to established hotel standards and in a timely manner. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, employee areas, and other assigned areas, monitoring cleanliness, condition, and overall presentation. Monitor room status and coordinate with Front Office and Maintenance to ensure accurate and timely room assignments. Ensure housekeeping operations comply with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
Specific requirements of the role:
Recruit, hire, train, schedule and supervise housekeeping personnel. Appropriately assign/delegate work and authority to others in the accomplishment of goals; provide coaching, advice and assistance as required; help subordinates overcome obstacles and deal with problems. Train employees on safe work practices and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Knowledge of safety management principles; federal and state OSHA regulations; safety, emergency, and accident policies and procedures. Maintain appropriate inventory levels and quality through regular inventory controls and purchasing. Responsible for managing department expenses in line with hotel occupancy and needs. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull items weighing up to 25 pounds , including housekeeping supplies, linens, equipment, packages, and other materials necessary for departmental operations. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, corridors, public areas, housekeeping areas, storage areas, laundry areas, and back-of-house areas. Ability to work in a hotel environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, moisture, varying temperatures, noise, and other conditions commonly associated with housekeeping operations. Assist with laundry or cleaning operations based on occupancy or staffing needs. Participate in Manager on Duty rotation as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2-3 years of hotel housekeeping experience. Spanish and English Bi-Lingual Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a hotel housekeeping environment preferred. Strong knowledge of hotel housekeeping procedures and cleanliness standards. Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, and occasional extended shifts when business needs require Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
