Monday-Friday Position Summary Riverside Commons, a skilled nursing and senior living community, is seeking an experienced and dependable Environmental Services Director to lead our housekeeping, laundry, sanitation, and environmental safety operations. The Environmental Services Director plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, comfortable, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, families, employees, and visitors. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience meeting infection prevention and regulatory standards in a healthcare or senior living setting. Key Responsibilities Direct the daily operations of the housekeeping, laundry, and environmental services departments. Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate environmental services team members. Establish cleaning schedules, work assignments, quality standards, and inspection procedures. Conduct routine inspections of resident rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, and other facility spaces. Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, OSHA requirements, safety procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain readiness for state surveys, inspections, and internal audits. Manage departmental staffing, supplies, equipment, inventory, and budget. Monitor the safe handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and Safety Data Sheets. Oversee proper linen processing, distribution, storage, and infection-control practices. Coordinate room preparation and cleaning for new admissions, transfers, and discharges. Respond promptly and professionally to resident, family, and departmental concerns. Collaborate with Nursing, Maintenance, Administration, and other departments to support resident safety and satisfaction. Develop and maintain departmental policies, procedures, training records, cleaning logs, and other required documentation. Promote a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, accountability, dignity, and excellent resident service. Participate in emergency preparedness activities and assist with facility needs during emergencies. Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate degree helpful. Previous environmental services, housekeeping, or facilities leadership experience required. Experience in a skilled nursing facility, assisted living community, hospital, or other healthcare setting strongly preferred. Knowledge of infection prevention, sanitation standards, chemical safety, OSHA requirements, and healthcare regulations. Demonstrated ability to lead, train, schedule, and motivate a team. Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing facility needs. Basic computer skills, including email, scheduling, documentation, and inventory management. Must meet all employment, background screening, health, and vaccination requirements applicable to the position and facility. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform routine physical tasks. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and use required personal protective equipment.
