This is not a desk-only management position. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, extremely detail-oriented, comfortable holding a team accountable, and willing to be present on the floors inspecting rooms and working alongside the team when necessary.

every guest should walk into a room that is clean, complete, inspected, and ready. What You'll Be Responsible For The Housekeeping Manager will take ownership of the cleanliness and readiness of our guest rooms and public areas, including: Leading, scheduling, training, and supervising the housekeeping team Assigning daily room boards and monitoring productivity throughout the shift Personally inspecting guest rooms before they are released as ready Ensuring beds, bathrooms, kitchens, floors, furniture, appliances, windows, vents, and high-touch areas meet hotel standards Identifying stains, damage, missing items, maintenance concerns, and cleanliness issues before a guest enters the room Maintaining strong linen, terry, amenity, and housekeeping supply controls Ensuring vacant, stayover, checkout, and deep-clean rooms are handled correctly Coordinating closely with Front Desk and Maintenance regarding room status and out-of-order issues Training employees on proper cleaning procedures and correcting performance issues immediately Documenting recurring deficiencies and following through until they are resolved Managing deep-cleaning projects and preventative cleaning schedules Maintaining clean and organized housekeeping closets, storage areas, laundry areas, and back-of-house spaces Responding professionally and urgently when a housekeeping-related guest issue occurs Monitoring labor and staffing levels while ensuring operational needs are covered Holding employees accountable for attendance, productivity, quality, conduct, and hotel policies What We're Looking For We are specifically looking for a manager who: Has previous hotel housekeeping leadership experience Has a strong eye for details that other people miss Understands that a room can look clean and still not be guest-ready Is comfortable inspecting rooms personally every day Can coach employees while also holding firm standards Does not ignore problems or assume someone else will handle them Communicates effectively with Front Desk, Maintenance, and hotel leadership Can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hotel environment Understands room status, room turns, productivity, inspections, linen control, and hotel housekeeping operations Is dependable, professional, punctual, and consistent Takes genuine pride in presenting an exceptionally clean property The Person Who Will Succeed Here We want someone who walks into a room and automatically notices the details: a stained sheet, dusty vent, hair in a bathroom, dirty dish, damaged furniture, missing remote, improperly made bed, residue on a surface, or something that simply doesn't look right. More importantly, we want someone who does something about it. The right Housekeeping Manager doesn't wait for a guest complaint to discover a problem. They create systems, train their team, inspect the work, correct deficiencies, and follow up. You will have the authority to lead your department, but with that authority comes accountability for its performance. Requirements Previous hotel housekeeping experience required Previous supervisory or management experience strongly preferred Ability to inspect rooms and identify cleanliness and maintenance deficiencies Strong leadership and employee-management skills Excellent organization and communication skills Ability to work weekends and holidays based on hotel occupancy and operational needs Ability to remain active and on your feet for extended periods Ability to perform physical housekeeping duties when operationally necessary About Hotel Houze Hotel Houze Detroit Downtown is an apartment-style hotel in the heart of downtown Detroit.
