About the Position The Head Housekeeper leads South Pier Inn's daily housekeeping operation and ensures that every room meets our standards for cleanliness, comfort, and presentation. This is an active, hands-on position that combines coordinating daily housekeeping assignments, inspecting guestrooms, and performing cleaning and property care tasks. The ideal candidate takes pride in a job well done, notices the details that others may overlook, and works comfortably both independently and alongside a team. Clear communication, dependability, and a willingness to help wherever needed are essential to success. Responsibilities Assign daily checkout and stayover rooms to housekeeping staff, adjusting assignments as needed to meet the day's workload. Inspect all vacant rooms and every checkout room after cleaning, ensuring that cleanliness, presentation, and room readiness meet South Pier Inn's standards. Communicate necessary corrections to housekeeping staff and follow through to ensure completion. Clean stayover and checkout rooms as necessary, based on staffing levels and daily needs. Perform daily cleaning and upkeep of common and public areas, including windows, the lobby restroom, floors, sidewalks, entryway halls, the housekeeping room, and the laundry room. Communicate room readiness, guest requests, and maintenance concerns to Guest Services and the management team. Help organize and carry out special cleaning and property care projects seasonally and as needed. Assist with seasonal snow removal and lawn care projects as needed. Remain on property until the last housekeeper has finished, ensuring that room inspections and any necessary corrections are complete before departure. Perform other duties as assigned by the management team. Qualifications Prior hotel or hospitality experience is strongly preferred. Previous supervisory or team leadership responsibilities are a plus. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to consistent cleanliness and guest comfort. Ability to organize daily work, communicate expectations respectfully, and follow through on assigned tasks. A dependable, cooperative approach and willingness to participate directly in cleaning and property care. Ability to perform the physical duties associated with guestroom cleaning, common-area upkeep, and seasonal outdoor work.
