Symphony Manor at Lancaster

Environmental Services Supervisor

Job Description

Environmental Services Supervisor Full-Time | $22.00-$26.00 per hour, commensurate with experience Reports to: Maintenance Director Symphony Manor, a 117-bed Adult Home in Lancaster, NY, employs an Environmental Services Supervisor as the right hand to the Maintenance Director. This is a hands-on working role, not a purely supervisory one: the Supervisor spends the majority of each day performing maintenance, grounds, and building work directly, while also supervising the housekeeping and laundry teams — keeping the community clean, safe, and running well every day. Responsibilities This is a working position: hands-on maintenance, cleaning, and grounds work are performed daily alongside supervisory duties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Housekeeping & Laundry Supervision Directly supervise, schedule, and train housekeeping and laundry staff across all shifts. Set cleaning standards and conduct regular inspections of resident rooms, common areas, and back-ofhouse spaces. Oversee laundry operations — resident personal laundry, linens, and infection-control handling. Manage cleaning and laundry supplies, chemicals, and equipment, including ordering, inventory, and safe storage. Maintain infection prevention and control practices across both departments. Maintenance & Building Support Complete work orders and repairs — painting, drywall, fixtures, plumbing, and general upkeep. Support preventive maintenance schedules and apartment turnovers alongside the Maintenance Director. Maintain grounds — landscaping, lawn care, leaf and debris removal, and exterior upkeep.

• Perform snow and ice removal to keep walkways, entrances, and parking areas safe.

• Assist with fire/life safety checks, drills, and documentation as assigned. Set up and break down for community events and activities. Share on-call coverage for evenings, weekends, and emergencies on a rotating basis. Take on other projects and duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director. Qualifications 3+ years of maintenance, housekeeping, or environmental services experience; senior living or healthcare setting preferred. Prior lead or supervisory experience — or a proven track record ready for the step up. Hands-on skills across painting, basic repairs, and grounds work. Knowledge of infection control practices and proper chemical handling. Reliability, attention to detail, and a respectful presence around residents — this building is their home. Valid driver's license. Physical Requirements This position requires standing and walking for extended periods; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working from heights; operating powered equipment; and working outdoors in all seasons, including snow removal in winter conditions — with or without reasonable accommodation. Disclaimer This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the individual assigned to this position. It is not intended to be, and should not be construed as, an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, qualifications, or working conditions. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may be added, deleted, or modified at any time, with or without notice, at the sole discretion of the Operator. This job description does not constitute a contract of employment. Employment is at-will. Symphony Manor is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
