Sylvania Health Care Center is seeking an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Housekeeping Supervisor / Environmental Services (EVS) Director to lead our housekeeping and environmental services department. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong leader who takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and resident satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, comfortable managing a team, and willing to jump in alongside staff when needed.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Direct and oversee the daily operations of the housekeeping and environmental services department. Supervise, schedule, train, and support housekeeping/EVS team members. Ensure resident rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, and other facility spaces are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Conduct routine inspections and rounds to ensure quality standards are consistently met. Maintain appropriate staffing levels and develop schedules based on facility needs. Ensure compliance with OSHA, CMS, state, federal, and facility infection-control requirements . Partner with Nursing and Infection Prevention to maintain appropriate cleaning and disinfecting practices. Develop and maintain cleaning schedules, including daily, weekly, monthly, and deep-cleaning assignments. Manage housekeeping supplies, chemicals, equipment, and inventory while monitoring departmental expenses. Ensure proper labeling, storage, handling, and use of chemicals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Train staff on infection prevention, proper chemical usage, PPE, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Address resident, family, and department concerns related to environmental services promptly and professionally. Participate in facility inspections, survey preparation, quality assurance initiatives, and corrective action plans as needed. Maintain department records, cleaning logs, inspection documentation, and other required compliance records. Work collaboratively with facility leadership to promote a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and employees. Provide hands-on assistance to the department when staffing or operational needs require it.
Qualifications:
Previous housekeeping, environmental services, or custodial leadership experience required. Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, senior living, hospital, or healthcare environment strongly preferred . Supervisory or management experience preferred. Knowledge of infection-control practices and healthcare sanitation standards preferred. Strong organizational, scheduling, and time-management skills. Ability to lead, coach, and hold team members accountable while maintaining a positive work environment. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple operational needs.
