GENERAL PURPOSE
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading the housekeeping department. Incumbent must ensure that the rooms, public spaces, and other applicable areas of the property are cleaned to standard.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication, and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate. Oversee the evening staff in the performance of assigned duties. Provide clear direction in assigning and instructing housekeeping and public space staff in details of work. Plan, organize, and monitor staff activities to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards set by hotel, which requires continuous visual inspection of guest rooms and public space areas including restaurants, lounges, meeting rooms, etc. Establish and maintain adequate supplies for efficient operation of the Housekeeping Department. Distribute and delegate workload to guarantee maximum production and guest satisfaction with minimum outlay of expenses in terms of labor and materials. Monitor house count and make staffing adjustments accordingly. Ensure proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, providing complete training for employees, and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with hotel hazard communication program. Evaluate condition of furniture, fixtures, decor, etc. Make recommendations and assist in the coordination of rehab projects. Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis. Issue supplies/goods to staff at the beginning of shift in order to control inventory and ensure proper supplies are available while controlling expenses. Respond to guest requests, concerns, and problems to ensure guest satisfaction. Log items into the Lost and Found and answer inquiries to maintain controls and ensure guest satisfaction. Implement emergency training and procedures Responsible for inventory management and control for the Housekeeping Department. Responsible for managing labor and productivity within the Housekeeping Department. Responsible for the time management and accountability of Housekeeping employees. Communicate daily with Housekeeping employees regarding employee concerns, departmental projects, daily assignments, and scheduling needs. Provide corrective feedback, coaching, and performance management to Housekeeping employees as needed. Responsible for ordering supplies and maintaining appropriate inventory levels for the department. Meet weekly with hotel leadership for departmental updates, operational planning, and 1:1 supervision. Lead by example by communicating and behaving in a professional manner. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
- Direct supervision of all housekeeping team members, 10 to 35 employees.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS 5
years relevant experience required in a supervisory role; preferably in a large hotel or comparable facility. Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements, and use of equipment/machinery. Knowledge of proper chemical handling. Ability to demonstrate active listening, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Ability to listen effectively, to speak and write English clearly. Thorough organization and time management skills to complete tasks efficiently and in a timely manner. Keen attention to detail. Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
