Position Summary The Assistant Housekeeping Manager supports the Executive Housekeeper and hotel management in overseeing daily housekeeping, laundry, and public area operations. This role is responsible for maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards, leading and training team members, maximizing guest satisfaction, and ensuring seamless daily coordination with the Front Desk. Primary Responsibilities Daily Operations & Supervision Assign daily room workloads and deep-cleaning projects based on occupancy and staff availability. Continuously inspect cleaned guest rooms throughout the day, updating room statuses in the PMS immediately upon completion. Verify Vacant Ready (VR) rooms to ensure they meet Hilton cleanliness standards before guest arrival. Coordinate regularly with the Front Desk regarding check-outs, extended stays, and priority room rushes. Inspect hotel grounds, public areas, and floor storage rooms to ensure cleanliness, safety, and security. Team Leadership & Training Train, mentor, and guide housekeepers, laundry attendants, and housepersons on brand standards and efficient workflows. Assign tasks to maintenance personnel as needed to resolve room or facility issues promptly. Ensure housepersons stock all floor linen closets and supply areas efficiently. Partner with the AGM or General Manager to conduct timely performance evaluations. Inventory & Equipment Safety Inspect maid carts to verify proper organization, stocking, and accurate OSHA chemical labeling on all bottles. Monitor housekeeping supply inventory levels in storage areas and report low stock to leadership. Verify that all washers, dryers, and laundry equipment are functioning safely and properly. Secure all supply areas and ensure all shift paperwork is turned in to the Front Desk at the end of the day. Guest Service & Administration Manage the hotel's Lost & Found process: log items with room numbers and dates, contact guests when information is available, and process shipment requests. Ensure check-out rooms have utilities turned off when vacant to support sustainability and cost control. Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications & Experience Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of hotel housekeeping experience (preferably in a branded, multi-use, or high-volume facility). Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent attention to detail and time-management capabilities.
Availability:
Must have flexible availability, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods during room and grounds inspections. Light to moderate lifting required (e.g., stocking supplies, moving linens, handling guest luggage). Ability to step in and physically perform housekeeping, laundry, or houseperson duties when operational demands require.
