Job Description

Clean Harbors is seeking a Tank Inspector to join our Inspection, Certification & Quality Control team in the Environmental Services industry. In this role, you will perform internal and external inspections of aboveground and underground storage tanks, pressure vessels, and related equipment to ensure structural integrity, regulatory compliance, and environmental protection. You will interpret drawings and inspection codes, document findings, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions. Working in a safety-first culture, you'll collaborate with operations teams, support client audits, and help drive continuous improvement on meaningful environmental projects. Responsibilities Perform internal and external inspections of storage tanks, pressure vessels, and related equipment Conduct thickness measurements, non-destructive testing, and visual examinations per applicable codes Document inspection results and prepare clear, detailed technical reports Verify compliance with environmental, safety, and industry regulations (e.g., API, OSHA, EPA) Identify deficiencies and recommend repair or maintenance actions Review drawings, specifications, and prior inspection records to plan inspections Work closely with operations and project teams to schedule and execute inspections safely Support client audits and regulatory inspections as needed Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and job safety analyses Maintain inspection tools, calibration records, and quality control documentation Required Skills Tank inspection API 653 code knowledge Non-destructive testing (NDT) Ultrasonic thickness measurement Visual inspection techniques Technical report writing Regulatory compliance (EPA/OSHA) Reading P&IDs and engineering drawings Confined space work Industrial safety procedures
