JMUEmployment General Information:
James Madison University's Facilities Management is accepting applications for a Housekeeping Inspector. Shift is Monday
  • Friday, 6:00 a.m.
  • 2:30 p.
m., with overtime as required to cover special events and inclement weather. There is a slightly alternate schedule during the summer months.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conducts inspections of university buildings to ensure cleanliness.
  • Uses the system CompuClean to ensure the buildings are being inspected on a regular schedule.
  • Provides input to management for improvement.
  • Assists in training new hires in addition to regular training for current employees and ensures employees have the knowledge and skills to meet all cleaning standards and safety procedures.
  • Promotes customer service and teamwork.
  • Maintains a record of all training materials
  • Ensures that the electronic inventory records accurately reflect the current status, location, and condition of equipment.
  • The employee in this position will be considered designated, meaning the work performed is essential to university operations and the employee will be required to work during periods of authorized closings.
Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, equipment and machines and of safety practices related to custodial service.
  • Basic strong and effective communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to supervise and the ability to effectively train others and explain processes.
  • Ability to perform manual labor on a sustained basis and operate large cleaning equipment such as buffers and vacuums.
  • Must be at least 19 years old and possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 24 consecutive months.
