Rotating Weekends and Holidays Position Summary:
The Environmental Services Technician maintains environmental and infection control standards within established policies and procedures of the health care center. The position performs a variety of general cleaning, disinfecting, linen distribution, and biohazard cleanup tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, bathrooms, and other assigned areas of the facility. The position distributes and tracks clean linens to user departments and maintains stock levels on nursing floors. The position follows standard practices and procedures and complies with regulatory, infection control, and safety requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Dusts furniture, woodwork and equipment and dust-mops floors. Polishes and cleans fixtures in rooms and bathrooms. Operates mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, snow blowers, shampooers and related environmental service equipment. Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials using specified bags or containers. Assists with cleaning, disinfecting, and proper disposal of vomit, bodily fluids, and other biohazardous materials in accordance with infection control, safety, and facility procedures. Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required. Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares rooms for new occupants; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms. Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls of bathrooms. Makes supply packs for departments and puts linen stacks in carts for distribution. Takes supply requests and delivers them. Delivers linens to departments according to pre-established par levels and schedules. Distributes emergency supplies as needed. Keeps records of linen distribution by department; checks floor linen supplies and lists linen use by department. Keeps work areas neat and orderly, cleans equipment and assists with other cleaning duties as assigned. Assists with evacuations, when needed. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. Uses required personal protective equipment and follows standard precautions, infection control procedures, and bloodborne pathogen safety practices when performing cleaning, disinfecting, and biohazard cleanup duties. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee may also be exposed to infectious materials, bodily fluids, bloodborne pathogens, biohazardous waste, and other materials requiring the use of standard precautions and appropriate personal protective equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, and use hands to handle cleaning equipment, supplies, trash containers, linen carts, and related materials. This position is active and requires standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift. The employee may occasionally be required to climb, crawl, or work in awkward positions while performing cleaning duties. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently and more than 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent work experience required. Two years of hospital/commercial cleaning experience preferred
