Job Title:
Retail Janitor / Store Custodian Shifts available: First Shift (M, T, W 7:00 AM
  • 2:30 PM and Th & F 7:00 AM
  • 3:30 PM) Weekend Shift (Saturday & Sunday 8:00 AM
  • 4:30 PM)
Pay Rate :
$16.00/Hour Position Summary We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Retail Janitor to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall presentation of our retail store. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a welcoming and sanitary environment for both our customers and team members. You will handle daily cleaning tasks across the showroom, restrooms, offices, and exterior areas, ensuring our facility consistently aligns with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities Floor Care:
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and operate commercial floor scrubbers or buffers daily to maintain tile, carpet, and common retail walkways.
Surface Sanitization:
Clean, dust, and deeply disinfect high-touch areas throughout the sales floor—such as registers, counter surfaces, handrails, display cases, and shopping carts—to meet strict health standards.
Restroom Maintenance:
Clean, sanitize, and fully restock restrooms with soap, paper towels, and toilet paper several times throughout the shift.
Waste Management:
Empty all interior trash cans and recycling bins across the showroom, breakrooms, and offices, transferring waste safely to designated outdoor dumpsters.
Spill Response:
Respond quickly to dry and wet spills on the sales floor, deploying appropriate hazard signage immediately to eliminate slipping risks and protect customer safety.
Exterior Upkeep:
Maintain outdoor storefront walkways and parking lot spaces by picking up litter and sweeping debris away from entrances.
Inventory Monitoring:
Track cleaning supply levels in the janitorial closet, performing regular stock checks and notifying leadership when items need replenishment.
Qualifications and Skills Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
Experience:
Proven experience in commercial cleaning, janitorial work, or retail maintenance is strongly preferred.
Chemical Safety:
Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, dilution ratios, and safety protocols, including appropriate PPE usage.
Equipment Knowledge:
Proficiency using or a willingness to learn how to operate heavy cleaning equipment like industrial vacuums and electric floor buffers.
Time Management:
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a tasks checklist independently with minimal supervision.
Communication:
Friendly, professional demeanor when interacting with coworkers or greeting customers on the sales floor. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and kneel for the duration of a standard 8-hour shift. Physical strength to lift, carry, and move heavy cleaning equipment or trash bags weighing up to 50 pounds. Comfort working in high-traffic commercial environments and handling unpleasant tasks, such as restroom sanitation and trash sorting.
