Job Description
Supervisor, Custodial Services Planning, Operations and Construction / Facilities Services Supervisor, Custodial Services Malibu Campus Skilled Craft/Trade/Maintenance Restricted Planning, Operations and Construction / Facilities Services Add to favorites View favorites Under the direction of the Manager of Custodial Services in the Department of Facilities Services (DFS), supervises all aspects of the Custodial Services division to ensure an efficiently functioning, safe, and clean environment in which the University can live, learn, and work. Supervises Custodial Services personnel and oversees relevant cleaning, pest control, waste management, and event support processes during the hours of 3:30 pm - 12:30 am. Duties Supervises and oversees the activities of in-house custodian staff by using both verbal and written instructions in compliance with the guidelines provided by the immediate supervisor and using independent judgment in instances not covered by the guidelines. Direct the operations of approximately 13 personnel engaged in custodial services in campus buildings and residence halls. Ensures that custodial services meet the needs of the department, the University, and custodial guidelines by scheduling work activities and adjusting workloads to compensate for scheduled and unscheduled absences, changing priorities, and special custodial projects. Enforces University rules and policies regarding employee conduct by advising custodial personnel of the University's rules and policies on employee conduct, issuing verbal warnings and written reprimands for violations, and recommending progressive disciplinary action to the immediate supervisor as appropriate. Inspect work of personnel assigned by conducting regular inspections, and direct corrective measures to secure satisfactory performance. Ensures that custodial personnel have the supplies, chemicals, and equipment necessary to perform custodial services by issuing supplies as needed, completing request form(s) for replacement items, and storing the supplies and equipment in a secure storage facility. Assure that the rules and regulations of the university, policies and procedures of DFS, and all safety regulations are known and observed by custodial staff. Ensures that administrative records and reports regarding custodial personnel are accurate and current by reviewing the work order system and employee time cards to document, track, and analyze as applicable. Coordinate with the Special Programs Office during summer months to ensure that residence hall rooms are ready when camps and summer guests arrive. Coordinate work between groups so that all rooms will be house cleaned and ready for fall students. Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with University customers by providing timely oral and written communication to exchange information and solve challenges. Contributes to overall success of the department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned. Provides continuity of custodial services under emergency conditions or unique circumstances by performing custodial duties directly related to the emergency conditions or as the situation dictates.
