What they do

A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Job Summary Under general supervision, performs custodial duties such as cleaning classrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, offices and bathrooms, and maintaining custodial equipment. Assists in keeping an assigned school or District site and grounds clean and in orderly condition. Within this scope, duties include coordinating, assigning, and directing others engaged in custodial work. Performs other related duties as assigned. This classification is distinguished from a Head Custodian II in that a Head Custodian I has responsibility for a continuation high school or adult school.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
