This position is primarily responsible for maintaining the exterior cleanliness and appearance of multiple assigned properties throughout the day. This is a hands-on outdoor position , and employees should be prepared to work outside for most, if not all, of their shift in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and light rain. The Day Porter will travel from one assigned property to another during the workday to perform exterior cleaning, general upkeep, and property maintenance duties. Daily hours may vary depending on the number and size of properties assigned. Employees can generally expect to work approximately 5 to 8 hours per day , Monday - Friday. The ideal candidate will be reliable, punctual, physically capable of performing outdoor cleaning work, and comfortable working independently while following a daily route and schedule. Key Responsibilities Travel between multiple assigned properties throughout the San Jose area during the workday Clean and maintain the exterior areas of commercial or residential properties Sweep sidewalks, walkways, entrances, parking areas, and other outdoor spaces Pick up trash, litter, leaves, debris, and other materials from exterior areas Empty exterior trash cans and replace liners as needed Maintain cleanliness around building entrances, common areas, parking lots, and property surroundings Monitor assigned properties for cleanliness, safety concerns, damage, or maintenance issues Report any property damage, hazards, unusual activity, or maintenance concerns to management Maintain cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment in good condition Follow the assigned daily route and complete all locations within the expected timeframe Maintain professional communication with supervisors, property representatives, and other personnel Follow all company safety procedures and property-specific requirements Complete basic daily reports or documentation when required Assist with additional cleaning or maintenance duties as assigned Working Conditions This position requires working outdoors for the majority of the workday Employees must be comfortable working in different weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy, and wet conditions Daily shifts are generally 5 to 8 hours , depending on the number of properties assigned, route requirements, and operational needs The number of working hours may vary from day to day based on the assigned properties The position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, reaching, and repetitive physical movement Employees will be required to travel from one property to another throughout the workday Work may involve exposure to dirt, dust, trash, leaves, water, and other outdoor conditions Employees must be prepared to remain active and physically engaged throughout the shift Skills and Qualifications Previous experience in janitorial work, day porter services, property maintenance, landscaping, exterior cleaning, or a related field is preferred Ability to work independently and follow a daily route and schedule Dependable, responsible, and punctual Strong attention to detail Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks efficiently Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods of time Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the day Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies, equipment, and trash as needed Good communication and time-management skills Ability to travel between multiple job sites during the workday Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus The Day Porter plays an important role in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, safety, and overall presentation of our assigned properties.
