A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

2nd Shift Custodian Bettendorf Community School District Bettendorf Community School District is seeking a dedicated, dependable, and detail-oriented 2nd Shift Custodian to join our Operations team. This position plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and community.
Schedule:
8 hours per day, 2nd
Shift Hourly Rate:
$23.16/hour
Start Date:
September 2026 Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Valid driver's license Ability to pass a pre-employment physical Pool certification required when assigned to a building with a pool Previous custodial experience in a school setting preferred Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide verification of employment eligibility as required by federal law Knowledge, Skills & Responsibilities Knowledge of custodial supplies, cleaning methods, and techniques Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and attractive school environment Follow all applicable health and safety regulations Perform and document routine inspections and maintenance activities Work independently with limited direct supervision Communicate effectively and professionally with staff, students, and visitors Demonstrate strong organization and multitasking skills Maintain a friendly, courteous, patient, and adaptable demeanor Demonstrate flexibility to meet the daily needs of the assigned school building Application Procedure Interested candidates should complete an online application through the Bettendorf Community School District employment website .
