A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Title:
Night Shift Custodian Reports To:
Building Head Custodian, Building Principal, Executive Director of Buildings and Grounds, and/or his/her designee
Position Summary:
The Night Shift Custodian is responsible for providing a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient environment for students, staff, and parents. The role also supports and assists the Head Custodian and Principles with daily custodial operations and building maintenance, including snow removal, weekend building checks, and the set up and take down of facilities for school functions and programs during and outside of regular school hours.
Qualifications & Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must hold a valid Illinois Driver's License and provide certification of good health signed by a licensed physician. Prior experience and expertise as a night shift custodian is required. The individual must demonstrate the physical and mental capabilities necessary for the role, including strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions, demonstrate attention to detail, and possess strong memory and comprehension skills is required for this role. The position requires the physical ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 80 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, climb and work on ladders, small scaffolds, and district lifts. The role requires the ability to perform all assigned duties and tasks with limited supervision and work effectively around students, staff, parents, and community members. As a Night Custodian, there must be an aptitude for successful fulfilment or assigned performance responsibilities.
