The Porter is an essential part of the Kata Nori team. Our Porters help create the foundation that allows the entire restaurant to operate efficiently. This position requires someone who takes ownership of their role, takes pride in their work, and understands that their attention to detail directly impacts the success of the entire team. Take ownership of the Porter position , treating the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the restaurant as your responsibility. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked dish area throughout service. Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, utensils, cookware, and other service equipment. Ensure the kitchen, servers, bartenders, and other team members consistently have the clean tools and equipment they need to do their jobs successfully . Anticipate the needs of the team rather than waiting to be asked—staying one step ahead helps the entire restaurant operate more efficiently. Monitor the flow of dishes and equipment during service and prioritize what the team needs most urgently. Keep the restaurant, kitchen, dish area, storage areas, and other assigned spaces clean, organized, and service-ready. Proactively identify and address cleaning, stocking, or organizational needs before they become obstacles for other team members. Assist with floors, trash, restrooms, service areas, and other cleaning responsibilities as needed. Assist with receiving, stocking, organizing, and moving supplies when necessary. Work closely with the entire FOH and BOH team to understand what they need and help keep them equipped for success . Communicate promptly with leadership about equipment issues, supply shortages, maintenance concerns, or anything that could impact the team's ability to operate effectively. Maintain a strong sense of urgency during busy periods while continuing to prioritize cleanliness, organization, and safety. Look for ways to improve the efficiency and organization of your work area without waiting to be directed. Understand that your role directly affects every other position in the restaurant . When the Porter is doing their job well, the entire team is better equipped to provide excellent service. Be dependable, accountable, and willing to step in wherever needed to support the team.
