A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Compensation will be based on 260 contract days and on the board-approved 104 salary schedule. This position requires an 8-hour workday.Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduate. Experience in plant maintenance preferred. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Push, pull or lift 40 pounds; kneel and reach above your head.Performance Responsibilities:
Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator. Shovels, plows and/or sands/salts walks and steps as directed by the School Plant Operator. Sweeps classrooms, dusts furniture, and cleans all chalkboards according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator. Cleans corridors after school each day and during the day according to work assignment scheduled prepared by the School Plant Operator. Scrubs, hoses down and disinfects toilet floors daily and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator. Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year and more frequently if necessary according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator. Clears debris from roofs, gutters and downspouts as needed. Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation according to work assignment schedule prepared by the School Plant Operator. Report major repairs needed promptly to the School Plant Operator. Other duties as assigned by the School Plant Operator. Removes garbage. Performs reasonable requests made by school personnel. Opens and secures building and notifies supervisor immediately of lost or misplaced keys of district. Cleans, stores and handles OCBE equipment properly.Adopted:
