JOB GOALS
Conduct on-site and classroom phases of custodial training courses; evaluate and remediate any deficiencies in procedures; plan, implement and instruct safety and cleaning programs for District custodians; to assure State laws, regulations and local board policies are met.
Will be an ambassador for Spencer County Public Schools and commit to offering excellent customer service to students, parents, and staff.
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Effective Cleaning and Safety practices and methods.
Principles, methods, techniques and strategies for training of school custodians.
Provisions of the Kentucky School Safety and Resiliency Act, as they relate to facilities.
Principles methods and procedures related to maintaining school facilities.
Technical aspects of field of specialty.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
ABILITY TO:
Conduct training and safety programs.
Operate floor scrubber, floor burnisher, Kaivac, and other custodial equipment.
Maintain accurate records.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Observe legal and defensive driving practices.
Attend meetings and remain current concerning rules, regulations, policies and laws.
PERFORMANCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct custodial training instruction in accordance with the curriculum developed by the District.
Evaluate performance of custodians and design improvement programming.
Train and assist new custodians during onboarding.
Coordinate communication between custodians and maintenance staff.
Clean buildings as needed due to staffing shortage or surge in needed services.
Prepare and maintain a variety of records, including certificate expiration, medical expiration and training hours; operate computer terminal; prepare Board reports.
Conduct process and procedural training programs; conduct safe cleaning and safe working methods and procedures training programs periodically and as specifically required.
Attend and conduct safety meetings and attend workshops to remain current in the field.
Assist Lead Custodians as required; provide work direction to Custodians; set up observation and training schedules, perform the duties of the supervisor in the supervisor's absence.
Receive documents, investigate and make recommendations on complaints from parents and school personnel regarding cleanliness and safety.
Perform related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds
Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED or other licensed credential for the position. Employees who do not have a diploma or GED can request details on how to obtain an equivalency diploma.
