Building Steward/Custodian To begin immediately. Maine Coast Waldorf School is now hiring a Building Steward for our growing school in Freeport, Maine. This position has a reliable schedule averaging 35-40 hours per week during the academic year, plus special projects during breaks. We are seeking a warm and capable individual with a keen eye for cleanliness of student spaces and a willingness to lend a helping hand wherever needed.

PAY RATE & BENEFITS

• $22.12 starting hourly rate

ABOUT THE POSITION

Building Stewards are an essential part of a wonderful team of four who provide care and cleanliness of 5 buildings, stock supplies, maintain order in storage areas, and provide support for major events of the school. Building Stewards work closely with faculty and student support teams to create a sanitary, welcoming, and mission-aligned environment where faculty can focus on teaching and students can thrive. The ideal candidate is highly independent, anticipates needs before they arise, communicates with warmth and professionalism, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in the condition of their spaces.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide consistent and reliable cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, offices, and common spaces.
• Help write, maintain, and follow daily cleaning checklists to ensure consistency.
• Continually observe areas for safety and raise issues as needed.
• Help enforce safe use of classrooms, offices, and common areas.
• Provide operational support for school events, festivals, and community programs.

Stock supplies and maintain order in storage areas. Maintain regular and effective communication with colleagues to support administrative and overall school community cohesion. Possess flexibility, versatility, enthusiasm, punctuality, and bring energy and dedication to our roles.

ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE

Student Days:

3:00 PM - 10:00 PM;

Monday-Friday Non-Student Days:

Additional hours, with a flexible schedule, up to 40 hours/week. The school year is roughly last August through mid-July.
