Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and energetic Night Time School Janitor to join our team for Elk Rapids Public Schools in Elk Rapids Mighigan. This vital role ensures that school facilities are kept clean, safe, and well-maintained during evening hours. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a pristine environment for students and staff alike. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the safety and cleanliness of educational facilities during evening hours 2:30pm-11:00pm. Duties Perform thorough cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areas using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies Handle chemical agents safely, following all chemical handling safety procedures to ensure a secure environment Operate floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other custodial equipment to maintain high standards of floor care and sanitation Conduct lifting tasks safely when moving furniture, supplies, or cleaning materials as needed Follow established safety protocols during all custodial activities to prevent accidents or injuries Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap dispensers, and cleaning products to ensure readiness for the next school day Experience Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or industrial settings preferred Knowledge of cleaning techniques including floor buffing, sanitation practices, and industrial cleaning methods Experience handling chemical agents safely and adhering to safety protocols in a custodial environment Familiarity with cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and pressure washers is highly desirable Strong manual handling skills with an emphasis on safe lifting practices and heavy lifting procedures Customer service skills are a plus for interacting professionally with staff or visitors when necessary Previous experience in facilities maintenance or porter roles will be advantageous for this position Join us in making school environments safer and cleaner during the quiet hours of the night!
