A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
Janitors will be under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor. Primary responsibilities may include any of the following Cleaning, polishing and maintenance of any assigned surface; walls, baseboards, floors, ceilings, lights, windows, stairs, furniture and fixtures, etc. Collection and disposal of trash Collection of soiled linens/ sorting and washing Clean janitorial equipment, report need for repairs to maintenance department Apply regulator to oxygen tanks and deliver those tanks to nursing department as needed Minor repairs to equipment and building Operate floor machine, burnisher, floor scrubber, wax stripping/application tools, dust mop, vacuum, carpet cleaner, upholstery cleaner, chemical dispenser, plunger, ladder Use cleaning chemicals, which could include wax, stripper, bleach, detergents, bowl cleaner and various cleaners per label directions In case of fire or other internal disaster, performs duties as assigned in Disaster Procedure Manual Move furniture safely and without damage to building Shovel snow away from exit doors Lock and unlock exterior doors per schedule Trash pick up and cleaning outside of building (patio, court yard, exit areas, parking lots, lawn, and employee areas) Deliver briefs to nursing units as needed Move cases of briefs to storeroom Move cases of paper products and chemicals to storeroom Pour from full 5 gallon buckets of chemicals Removes and replaces draperies and divider curtains as necessary Clean stove vents in primary kitchen Places filled trash bags above shoulder level into compactor Take clean clothes from washer, place in the dryer and start dryer Janitor will Interact and communicate respectfully with employees from all departments Display compassion, kindness and respect toward Residents and Family Accept the Edon Culture of this Facility and willingly participate in neighborhood activities Show respect when moving and cleaning Resident property Clean all equipment after use Work safely Work with chemicals that could have strong odors Dress professionally (clean clothes & clean shoes) and begin their shift freshly bathed and with clean hair, teeth and nails. Keep record of task completed to eliminate duplication of effort on other shifts Perform any other tasks that may be assigned Observe and report the needs and repairs of equipment, furniture, building and fixtures on Maintenance work order with copy to the
