What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent or experience as a custodian
- Excellent work ethic and attendance record
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
- Perform cleaning in an efficient and effective manner
- Schedule time to perform all cleaning necessary in designated area without direct supervision
- Work effectively in a team atmosphere
- Maintain a positive attitude and assist coworkers as needed
- Develop and maintain excellent rapport with the public, staff, and students
- Ability to read and understand product labeling
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
- Assist in maintaining seasonal grounds work (snow, lawn, landscaping beds, etc.)
- Clean and preserve designated spaces, equipment etc. in the building as assigned by the supervisor
- Restock disposable items and provide lead custodian with inventory usage and data
- Assist the visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment
- Maintain building and grounds security in the building each school day
- Identify and report uncleaned areas and safety concerns
- Report work-related problems to lead custodian or custodial/maintenance director
- Additional duties as assigned
Salary/Benefits:
Starting at $17.31 per hour; commensurate with experience, per the PPEPSA Agreement
