Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated Environmental Services team as an Environmental Services Housekeeper and play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environment. In this energetic and essential position, you will be responsible for ensuring all patient care areas, public spaces, and staff facilities are spotless, sanitized, and compliant with health standards. Your commitment to cleanliness directly supports infection prevention, safety protocols, and the overall well-being of patients, visitors, and staff. Duties Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, operating rooms, hallways, restrooms, and public areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment. Handle laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms in accordance with healthcare standards. Properly handle chemical agents used for cleaning and sanitation following OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines to ensure safety for yourself and others. Conduct floor care activities such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, and carpet cleaning to maintain a pristine environment. Use janitorial equipment safely and effectively while adhering to safety protocols for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks. Follow strict sanitation procedures to prevent healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and support infection control policies. Maintain detailed records of cleaning schedules, chemical usage, safety inspections, and incident reports as required by healthcare facility standards. Skills Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to chemical handling, safe lifting practices, and environmental safety protocols. Experience in healthcare facilities housekeeping or hospital custodial services with an understanding of infection prevention measures. Proficiency in the use of cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, extractors, and chemical dispensers. Strong manual handling skills with the ability to lift heavy objects safely while following proper techniques. Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with patients, visitors, staff, and management. Familiarity with janitorial best practices including sanitation standards specific to healthcare environments. Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety compliance.
