[Worksite Location] Position Summary The Cart Porter is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely collection, transportation, organization, and staging of delivery carts throughout the facility and designated parking areas. The Cart Porter helps maintain a continuous supply of available carts for delivery operations while keeping cart staging areas, walkways, and work areas organized and free of unnecessary congestion. This is a physically active position that requires employees to work outdoors and indoors, remain on their feet for extended periods, and maintain a steady work pace throughout the shift. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Retrieve empty package carts from designated parking lots, loading areas, and other assigned locations. Return carts promptly to the warehouse entrance or designated staging area. Organize and stage carts according to site requirements. Maintain a consistent flow of available carts to support warehouse and delivery operations. Monitor assigned areas throughout the shift and retrieve carts before excessive accumulation occurs. Push, pull, maneuver, and position carts safely. Keep cart staging areas neat, orderly, and accessible. Ensure walkways, entrances, traffic lanes, and emergency access areas remain clear. Inspect carts for visible damage, unsafe conditions, or mechanical problems and report concerns to the supervisor. Follow designated pedestrian and vehicle traffic routes while working in parking areas. Use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including high-visibility safety equipment when required. Follow all company and customer safety policies and worksite procedures. Immediately report accidents, injuries, damaged equipment, hazards, or unsafe conditions. Communicate with supervisors and other team members regarding cart shortages, excessive cart buildup, or operational problems. Assist other Cart Porters during high-volume periods as directed. Perform other related duties assigned by the Site Supervisor or Operations Manager. Performance Expectations Cart Porters are expected to: Report to work on time and ready to begin work at the scheduled start of the shift. Remain in their assigned work area unless authorized by a supervisor. Maintain a steady and productive work pace. Avoid unnecessary downtime and excessive personal phone use while working. Respond promptly when carts begin accumulating in assigned areas. Work cooperatively with other Cart Porters and facility personnel. Handle carts and customer property carefully to prevent damage. Maintain professional conduct while on customer property. Follow instructions provided by supervisors and authorized customer representatives. Physical Requirements Employees must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods throughout an 8-hour shift. Frequently push and pull carts. Bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive physical movements. Safely maneuver carts through parking areas, entrances, ramps, and staging areas. Work indoors and outdoors. Work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and light rain when operations permit. Perform physically demanding work for extended periods while maintaining safe work practices. Attendance and Reliability Regular and dependable attendance is an essential function of this position. Because Cart Porters provide continuous operational support, unplanned absences, excessive tardiness, or leaving an assigned area without authorization can affect the entire operation. Employees are expected to follow company procedures for reporting absences or late arrivals.
